Abstract

241,210. Schlayer, F. Aug. 7, 1923, [Convention date]. Addition to 204,059. Thrashing-machines. -The thrashing machine of the parent Specification, which comprises rotating inclined beaters working in a drum through which the corn passes axially, is provided with means for opening the rear end of the drum whereby the suction effect of the beaters is modified and consequently the rate at which the corn passes through the machine. The upper half of the drum is provided with a hinged shutter 38, returned by a spring 38<3>, and maintained open by a pawl and ratchet 38<2>. The lower half is fitted with concentric hemispherical shutters 39, 40, returned by weights 40<3>, and provided with similar setting means. The shutters may be arranged to slide. Normally the straw discharged by the machine opens the shutters, but the means provided enables this opening to be maintained and varied.
