Abstract

241,088. Wilson, W. A. March 6, 1925. Handles; locking-catches. - In a gas tap in which the handle is arranged to hang down out of alignment with the spindle in the closed position as, for example, in Specification 210,026 an improved fitting F<1>, Figs. 1 and 2 is provided whereby the handle can only be turned down when the tap is closed; in this position the tap is locked. The end of the spindle A, or an extension A<x> thereof, is bifurcated to receive the pivoted handle H and is partly surrounded by a partial sleeve F<1> secured by a base flange F to the frame S of a gas stove or to the tap body direct. The sleeve extends so far around the outer end of the spindle that one side of the handle H lies against the faces F<3> of the partial sleeve when the handle is turned down. To prevent the handle from passing the aligned position the inner end or heel is inclined, as at H<1>. Figs. 1 and 2, to abut against the bottom of the slot A<3> in the spindle. In order to prevent the handle from being turned down in the fullyopened position the inclined heel is arranged to abut, in this position, against an extension F<2> of the flange F, as shown in Fig. 4.
