Abstract

Road-traffic signals on vehicles. - A directionindicator for road vehicles consists of a lamp-containing casing 20 carried by a radial arm 2a fixed on a horizontal shaft 3 on which two spiral springs 7, 7<a> are mounted, the arm being brought back to its normal central position, after deflection to either side, by the corresponding spring. The shaft 3 is mounted in a casing 4, and the arm 2<a> works in a slot in the cover 3b and has a downwardly-extending arm 8 having projections f at its lower end. One end of each of the springs 7, 7<a> rests upon the bearings 3<a> of the shaft 3 and the other end a, a<1> extends downwardly to contact with a stop 21. When the arm is deflected to the left the pin f of the arm 8 carries the end a<1> of the spring 7a with it and when the arm is freed the spring returns it to normal position. The spring 1 operates similarly on deflection of the arm to the right. The arm may be deflected by means of a pulley 9 and chain 10. For giving corresponding indications at the rear by illuminating arrows &c., the downwardlyextending arm 8 is adapted to close momentarily an electric circuit, to illuminate the corresponding arrow &c., by contacting with a spring terminal 10<a>, 10<b>.
