Abstract

240,672. Hollingworth, E., (Crompton & Knowles Loom Works). Nov. 21, 1924. Fabrics, pile. - In a double pile fabric in which two or more kinds or colours of pile warps are employed, a complete set of pile warps for the upper fabric and a complete set for the lower fabric are provided in each reed space. In the threeshot weave shown in Fig. 1, the fabric comprises upper binder warps B, B<1>, lower binder warps C, C<1>, stuffer warps S, upper pile warps 10 - - 14, and lower pile warps 20 - - 24, the same colours being indicated by the same diagrammatic representations. Wefts 30 - - 32 and 40 - - 42 are inserted in the crossings of the binder warps. The pile warps pass around the back wefts, as shown in Fig. 1, or round two front wefts as shown in Fig. 3. In the formation of the selvage, the pile warps are divided, the pile warps adjacent one edge proceeding from one sheet and the pile warps adjacent the other edge from the other sheet, and such warps proceed from a fabric portion in which a pick of filling has just left the edge of the fabric and is about to form a loop at the selvage.
