Mechanical toys. - A walking toy of the kind having mechanically interconnected legs adapted, when guided along a support, to perform natural walking movements, is provided with two intermeshing elliptic gearwheels 1, 2, each of which is connected to one arm 6 of a bellcrank fulcrumed on an arm 10 projecting from the pivotally supported thigh 14 of one of the legs, the other arm 6<1> of the bell crank being connected by a rod 18 to a crank-pin 22 controlling the lower part 20 of the leg. The doll is preferably led by one arm, which projects substantially horizontally from the body, the weight of the doll being sufficient to actuate the legs. When the device is applied to animals the mechanism is duplicated for the front and rear legs.
