Mechanical toys.-The legs of walking dolls, animals, &c. are each composed of two levers 11, 21 pivoted to the framework 13 and to a footmember 17. The levers 11 are each provided with slotted extensions 9 engaged by the pins 7 of clockwork-driven cranks 5. Each foot-member 17 is mounted on a shoe 37 carried by four wheels 38, the axles of which are provided with toothed wheels 27, 29 engaged by pawls 23, 25. The arms of the doll are mounted on rotatable sleeves 49, 50 connected to an oscillatory member 43 which is attached to a rod 42 carrying the head. Motion is transmitted to the arms and head through a rod 52 connected to one of the crank-pins 7 and to an arm 51 projecting from the sleeve 50.
