Abstract

The Measuring Lid incorporates into one unit, a means of closure for a container combined with a means by which the volume of an amount dispensed from that container can be measured 12 and a cup 14 from which the said contents 10 could thereafter be consumed or discharged.

Description

Measuring Iid This invention relates to a Measuring Lid.
Closure lids on containers such as medicine bottles, provide no means for a user to accurately measure the volume of the content substance to be dispensed. For this purpose, some manufacturers add a separate measuring cup, whilst others add a measuring spoon. These means of measurement frequently become separated from the bottle and lost. The closure lid itself however, is rarely lost.
According to the present invention, the closure lid, together with a means of measuring the content volume to be dispensed and a cup, are combined into one single unit, the Measuring Lid.
Preferably the Measuring Lid is made from a transparent plastic or polypropylene type material, though this will not always be the case and other materials, not necessarily transparent may be used.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: FIGURE 1 shows the Measuring Lid.
FIGURE 2 shows a container with the Measuring Lid in situ.
As shown in figure 1, when the Measuring Lid is removed from the container, the container's contents may be measured using a graduated volume scale 12, which is permanently marked on the Measuring Lid. And for example, for pharmaceutical purposes, the Measuring Lid can also be used by a person as a cup 14, from which he or she then consumes the contents. The Measuring Lid also incorporates an internal means of fixing it to the container and sealing the contents. In this example, a screw thread 10 has been used.
As shown in figure 2, when the Measuring Lid is refitted to the container, it fully retains the container's contents.

Claims (3)

1. A closure lid for a container, incorporating a means of measuring the volume of contents to be dispensed from that container, in a cup form, which if so required, can be used for the consumption or discharge of the said measured contents, all combined into one single unit.
2. The closure lid could be used on any container, for the measuring and consumption or discharging of any flowing substance.
3. A closure lid and means of measurement substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
