Abstract
A light string that is attached to a bicycle frame to make cyclists visible from the side comprises a string of LED's 5 in a silicone moulding 6 powered by a rechargeable battery 1 in holder 2 attached to the frame by bracket 4. A front 8 and rear light 9 may also be powered by the battery and may be connected to the string by connector plugs 7. The system is activated by switch 3 operated by the cyclist.

BICYCLE SAFETY
The idea is for bicycle safety by the way of illumination of the bicycle frame, so that the sides of the bicycle may be instantly recognisable to other road users approaching from the sides.
This is an addition to the normal safety lights we now use, that only protect us from the front and back. The light source will be of a constant nature as flashing lights tend to distract rather than inform other road users.
This idea also has the advantage of being adaptable in so much as it is in kit form and can be transferred from bike to bike.
This is an advancement on the idea that I filed a patent for in October 2001 and have since cancelled as the technology has moved on.
The illumination of the frame is accomplished by attaching a string of L. E.D's. 5 Encapsulated in a waterproof protecting silicon moulding 6 around the bike frame, which is attached by adhesive tape, the L.E.D.'s 5 will be powered by a rechargeable power pack, ( 1, Fig 3) containing 6 batteries giving off a 9 volt charge that can be detached for recharging from its power pack holder (2, Fig 3) which is held to the down bar of the frame by a universal bracket fastened by one screw (4, Fig 3).
An on/off switch (3, Fig 3) on the power pack holder (2, Fig 3) allows the user to decide when the device should be activated.
Page 2 At the handle bar side of the string of L.E.D.'s 5 connector plugs 7 are located, these connect the front light 8 to the frame L.E.D.'s 5 to form a complete bicycle lighting system Fig 1. There are 4 connecting plugs (7, Fig 2) where the string of L.E.D.'s 5 connect to and then distribute over both sides of the frame as the front light (8, Fig 2) also acts as a distribution centre, the same connector plugs 7 are used to connect the tail light 9 to the L.E.D.'s 5 at the rear.
