Abstract

The device is extendable due to the presence of the telescopic rods 4 carrying a portion of the levelling device which carries at least one bubble vial. A locking device 3 is provided to secure the device at the desired extended position. A scale 6 is provided along an edge of the device, there being a series of holes 5 to allow a marking implement to pass through and mark a surface/wall. In an embodiment (fig.4), the bubble vial may be rotated through 360 degrees.

Description

DESCRIPTION
Measuring and levellin dence Th is invention is along similar lines to a conventional spirit level, being able to measure whether things are level horizontally, vertically or at angles.
Spirit levels are found everywhere but this type of spirit level would enable someone to measure specific distances and then mark on the surface/wall where they want to doll holes etc. I would imagine that this instrument would have to be made of metal, i.e. alumnium.
Fig. I shows a view from above (see page 1/2) Fig. 2 shows a view as if from underneath (see page 1/2) Fig. 3 shows a view looking at the instrument side on (see page 1/2) Fig. 4 shows a more detailed view ofthe no. I spot level (see page 2/2) As shown in fig. 1, the measuring instrument has several levels at each end and most nportant the number 1 levels, which can be rotated so that holes can be marked at angles on a surface or wall. There is also a handle number 2 for manoeuvrability.
Number 3 is a screw with a knob on top, which would be used to tighten up a locking plate underneath telescopic rods.
the telescopic rods number 4 would probably be something akin to a section of a car aerial with one part sliding inside the other. All along the edge of the device there would be holes number 5, which would probably be spaced about I centimetre apart.
These holes would be big enough to allow a marker of some kind, e.g. a pencil tip to go through and mark a surcewall.
There would also be a linear scale (number 6) along the edge, which would just help when nature distances. This could possibly be extended onto the telescopic rods.
As shown in fig. 2 we can see the underneath of the instrument. There are quite a few rubber stoppers, which will prevent the device from sliding around on the wa11/surface. As shown in fig. 3 the instrument is lying on its side. As shown, the edge is wide because it can then be used like a conventional spirit level. Furthermore, this wide edge also runs up the ends of the device so that you can stand it on either end.
As shown in fig. 4 the number 1 spirit levels are able to be turned through 360 degrees, which enables the user to measure angled lines or make marks at an angle.
Obieces of invention The object of this invention is that the spirit level device is telescopic, therefore allowing the user to set the instrument at a pre-determined distance. This is particularly usefi,l when trying to put up shelves, cupboards, large pictures etc. where one needs at least two marks, which are usually a fair distance apart.
Conventionally it is an awcwd and clumsy task to get these marks level with each other when you are working alone. Perhaps you might use a piece of wood and a spins level together.
This particular Noah g and levelling device would make a tricky job more straightforward and certainb much edgier and quiclrer.
Introduction to draglines
View from above figure I (see page 1/2) t. As you can see there are three spirit levels at each end' but these two number I spins levels are particularly useful because the user will be able to turn them to different angles through 360 degrees.
2. This is a handle to manoeuvre the instrument.
3. A screw with a knob on top to lock the telescopic part of the instrument in place. 4. Telescopic rods 5. Holes, big enough to allow a pencil/marker through 6. Linear scale View Hem underneath figure 2 (see page 1/2) 7. Hoer stoppers to prevent instrument front sliduaround on the wall/surce View front Me on figure 3 (see page 1/2) 8. Ibe Or would have this wide base so that it could be used like a copyentional spirit lever Moreover, as you can she the wide part reins up the ends ofthe device so that you con stand it up on end.
More detailed TV M I spirit level figure 4 (see - <e 2/2) 9. This picture Bonus bow tlnuber I spirit levels can be turned, allowing you to rotate {hem,gh 360 degrees.

Meagunn. and levelly dance Claims
1. A spirit level measuring device which is extendable, enabling the user to pre-
deterrmne points he wants to mark on walls/surfaces. Furthennore, it allows the user to make two or snore marks at a measured distance from one another, knowing that they will be level.
2. The extendable arias will have a locking device to enable the user to lock them in position.
3. The device will hake hopes at set spaces so that you can easily measure distances.
4. The device will am have a, linear scale.
5. The device can also used like a conventional spirit level.
6. The device can be used to put your pre-detertnined markings at any angles.
7. A nasunog and levelling dunce substantially as herem described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
