Abstract

The adjustable spirit level has an outer casing 1, which houses an inner body 3. The inner body is fixed to second outer casing 2. The inner body 3 also contains a sealed tube with liquid and two parallel lines 8. The first outer casing 1 has a thumb screw 4 which tightens onto the inner body 3 or into holes 5. The system works by using the thumb screw 4 to tighten up onto the inner body 3 at the desired length within its maximum span. <IMAGE>

Description

ADJUSTABLE SPIRIT LEVEL This invention relates to an Adjustable Spirit Level.
Spirit levels are well-known. It is a device for setting horizontal surfaces consisting of a block of material, in which a sealed tube partially filled with liquid is set so that the air bubble rests between two marks on the tube when the block is horizontal.
However, the Adjustable Spirit Level invention is a spirit level which can be set at different or any length within its maximum span, while still being in true.

Referring to the drawing, Figure 2., the Adjustable Spirit Level is open. This was done by turning the thumb screw number 4 out of the receptive hole number 5, then pulling outer casing number 1 away from outer casing number 2.
The spirit level can be set by turning the thumb screw number 4 to locate into a receptive hole number 5, or onto the inner body number 3. The thumb screw also keeps outer casing number 1 in true with outer casing number 2.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. An Adjustable Spirit Level comprising of a 1st outer casing which houses the inner body.
  2. 2. An Adjustable Spirit Level as claimed in Claim 1., wherein the inner body is fixed to a second outer casing allowing the two outer casings to butt up to each other and conceal the inner body.
  3. 3. An Adjustable Spirit Level as claimed in Claim 2., wherein the thumb screw is in a position on the 1st outer casing allowing it to tighten onto the inner body, or tighten in to the receptive holes on the inner body.
  4. 4. An Adjustable Spirit Level as claimed in Claim 3., able to span any length within its maximum length whilst still being IN TRUE.
  5. 5. An Adjustable Spirit Level as claimed in Claim 4., with a sealed glass tube containing liquid and two parallel lines fixed into the inner body.
  6. 6. An Adjustable Spirit Level as claimed in Claim 5., with reference to figures 1 to 3 of the accompanying drawings.
