Abstract

The device comprise a funnel 2 which connects into 4-way pipe joint 1 which in turn carries radiating detachable pipes 4 in which sprinkle holes 6 deliver water directly to the roots. A rubber washer 3 and plastic collar 7 fix the pipes to the 4-way pipe joint. Through the system water is delivered slowly to the roots over a period of time from manual feeding or rainfall. In use only the funnel remains visible above the soil with the pipes being placed under the soil.

Description

A Descaunon 23885 0 Invention name: "Hanging Basket Water Feeder" 1. The
invention relates to the watering of hanging baskets. It is a lightweight device that can be placed in a hanging basket to ensure effective watering.
2. The invention took shape after repeated attempts to water high and fixed hanging flower baskets without wasting a considerable amount of water and drenching clothes and shoes. 3. The aim is to reduce soil loss and water spillage, that can occur during a heavy dousing of a hanging basket, are no longer a problem for the gardener.
4. 1 he 'Hanging Basket Water Feeder" allow plants to be watered successfully, by access below the soil, of a steady flow of water, guided to the roots by the funnel leading to under-soil outlets\sprinkle holes. All water is retained in the soil with no spillage over sided of basket.
5. Essentially the invention affords the user the ability to water hanging baskets the worry of damaging clothes and soil loss. It also reduces the amount of water used. In wetter times the device will also serve to collect rainwater and deliver to the roots in the same way as physical watering.
6. Water and nutrient are delivered slowly as water seeps from funnel to the root thus prolonging feed period.
7. The invention is made of plastic and a funnel is fined above the soil: joining the 4-way pipe above the soil. A rubber washer and plastic collar attach the 4-way pipe joint to detachable pipes, which feed the water to the roots.
8. The pipes are detachable so that varying lengths can be fitted for different size hanging baskets. In this way the devise can also be used for any flower holder regardless of shape. Municipal and large-scale watering of hanging baskets leaves a residue of leak-
ing and wasted water. In public places this can reduce the inconvenience to the public.
Drawing 1: sets out the invention in full. It concentrates on the delivery system where the 4-way joint pipe sits under the soil and holds both plastic funnel and the four detachable pipes. These pipes deliver the water through sprinkle holes to the roots.
Drawing 2: shows the devise in situ, with only the funnel showing. The rest of the devise is under the soil to deliver the water effectively.
Photo 1 & 2: show two elevations of the device. Photo one showing how the invention will sit when effectively in use. Photo 2 shows the device form below.
Photo 3 & 4: show the water being delivered into the device. Photo 4 shows the device ef-
fectively in use and being utilised as an efficient waterer.
Photo 5: shows the device in sections in co-ordination with Drawing 1. Both Drawing I and Photo 5 show sum of the parts that make up the device and how they are fitted together.
( Essential features: I. As shown in Drawing 2 and Photo 4 the invention is placed in the soil of the hang ing basket to guide water to roots. (detachable in Photo S! allows watering from top without spillage when applied as in Drawing 2.
II. The water seeps slowly from funnel to undersell detachable pipes in which sprinkle holes deliver water as in Photo 3.
111. Drawing 1 & Photo 5: show the system of rubber washer and plastic, which attaches the collar to the 4-way pipe joint and then to detachable pipes. Water and nutrients can be delivered slowly to the roots over a period of time rather than receiving a deluge that leaves water dripping and seeping from a drenching.
D: Record of Drawings and Photographs Invention name: Changing Basket Water Feeder" 1. Drawing 1: sets out the invention in full. It concentrates on the delivery system where the 4-way joint pipe sits under the soil and holds both plastic fimnel and the four de-
tachable pipes. These pipes deliver the water through sprinkle holes to the roots.
2. Drawing 2: shows the devise in situ, with only the funnel showing. The rest of the de-
vise is under the soil to deliver the water effectively.
3. Photo I shows a front elevation elevations of the complete device and showing how the invention will sit when effectively in use. Photo 2 shows the device form below.
4. Photo 2: shows an angled, underside front elevation of the complete device.
5. Photo 3: shows the water being delivered into the device but not fitted in to the hanging basket. 6. Photo 4: shows the device effectively in use and being utilised as an efficient watering device. 7. Photo 5: shows the device separated into its components and links also with Drawing 1.
Both Drawing I and Photo 5 show sum of the parts that make up the device and how they are fitted together.
