238,702. Montstream, J. H. Aug. 25, 1924. Tools; toolholders. - A lathe tool comprises a body having one or more helical ribs 14. the ends of which are shaped to form cutting-edges 22 whose rake varies progressively from end to end. The cutter is held in a split holder 7 by a clamping screw 12, the axis of the cutter being set approximately parallel to the work and transversely of the shank 8 of the holder. The end faces of the tool may be chamfered and cutting edges may be formed on each side of each rib.
