Abstract

238,552. Spanjaard, J. Aug. 12, 1924, [Convention date]. Stop-motions, electrical, with method of actuation not specified.-In an electric stopmotion in which an electromagnet operates the device to occasion the stoppage, and the circuit through the electromagnet is broken when the machine stops, a member is moved automatically to break the circuit as soon as the machine stops and is moved automatically to remake the .circuit by a part, the movement or position of which is controlled by the re-starting of the machine. The device is described as applied to a drawing- frame with a belt-drive. On failure of the sliver 2 the rollers 5 come into contact and the circuit through the electromagnet 9 is closed and the stop device operated. The circuit comprises a contact which is kept closed so long as the shaft 7 rotates by the friction of the shaft and the part carrying the arm 8. As the shaft stops, the spring 10 pulls the arms 8 down and the circuit through the electromagnet 9 is broken. In an electrically driven machine the contacts for making and breaking the electromagnet circuit may be controlled by the part operating the motor switch, so that they are closed only when the latter is in its switched-on position.
