Abstract

238,248. Schutze, O. Aug. 7, 1924, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Dental and like engines.-Relates to angular hand-pieces for dental engines of the kind in which the tool is mounted in the gear casing by means of a sleeve or socket serving also as an adjustable bearing, and consists in the use of a nut, instead of a bayonet fastening, for retaining the sleeve in position. The nut is formed at its inner end with a bearing surface for part of the driving gear, and is adapted to be locked in position after adjustment. The tool 1 is fitted in a socket 2 inserted in the casing 22 and is retained by a nut 3. The nut is coned at 4 to form a bearing for the pinion 5 which is integral with a sleeve 5a surrounding the socket 2 within the nut. The nut 3 is formed with a. smooth cylindrical portion adapted to be engaged by an annular locking member 21 sliding in an undercut groove on the casing and forced into engagement with the, nut by means of the handle 23 of the handpiece. The outer end 6 of the nut 3 overhangs the casing and is milled. The pinions 5, 7 are formed with '' module teeth with faces parallel with the respective axes " so as to permit of adjustment of the pinions.
