Abstract

A filter is provided for dishwashers for collecting larger dirt and debris produced during the washing process. The filter is in the form of a 'pan' 1-4 which is located within the washing compartment between the highest level of water attained in the compartment and below the level of the dishes etc being washed, such that it catches larger debris thrown off the washed articles to prevent it sticking to other articles and remaining after the cycle is finished. It is located so that the lower surface of the pan is above the highest water level. The filter is preferably of a metallic or plastics mesh with aperture sizes or between 0.1 and 0.5 mm. Preferred materials are stainless steel or nylon.

GLASS/DISHWASHER IMPROVEMENT

Background Woun Glass/Dishwashers leave unacceptable levels of detritus on washed items. There is a need to spray items manually with water before the cleaning cycle. At the end of cleaning cycle a cloth may be needed to remove any remaining unfiltered detritus this can introduce germs onto the product. Motor and Parts are subjected to extra wear and tear. Extra time needed at end of session for cleaning procedures. The plumbing can become blocked because of detritus.

Problem solved This filter solves all these problems by removing solid particles from the recycled wash water.

Essential Features Filter hole size is important between O. lmm and 0. 5mm. across.

Between 0.2 mm and 0.3 mm. across preferred but conveniently 0. 26mm. across. Filter must not be fully immersed in water.

Filter can be made of any substance, stainless steel mesh, nylon or plastic is preferred. Filter must be positioned between the water cleaning spray mechanism and the part-recycled cleaning water reservoir. As the Filter is not fully immersed in water the agitation caused by the sprayed water over the collected detritus prohibits the filter from being impervious to the passage of water thus eliminating blockages in the filter and making cleaning easy.

INTRODUCTION TO DRAWING 1. Filter with hole sizes between 0.1 mm. and 0.5 mm.

Preferably 0.2 to 0. 3mm across but conveniently 0.26 mm. across. Open area of Filter can vary preferably 39%. Apertures per inch can vary preferred 60.

2. Frame to hold filter, any size or number of to fill space between cleaning sprayed water and cleaning water reservoir.

3. Frame sides can be any depth but recommend between 5 mm. and 40 mm.

4. Handle to remove for cleaning any size to suit.

5. Glass/Dishwasher cabinet.

6. Cleaning water Spray arms.

Claims

CLAIMS 1. A dishwasher comprising means for washing and removing detritus from dirty dishes, glassware, cutlery and the like, the dishwasher also comprising means for removing the detritus from the recycled water within the dishwasher, the means for removing the detritus comprising at least one filter pan located between the dishes and a holding tank for the recycled water, a base of the filter pan being located above an upper level of the recycled water in the holding tank, characterised in that the filter pan comprises a screen provided by a metallic or plastic mesh having apertures between O. 1mm and 0. 5mm across.
2. A dishwasher according to claim 1, characterised in that the apertures are between 0. 2mm and 0. 3mm across.
3. A dishwasher according to either one of claims 1 and 2 characterised in that the apertures are 0.26 mm across.
4. A dishwasher according to any one of claims 1, 2 and 3, characterised in that the screen is made of stainless steel.
5. A dishwasher according to any one of claims 1,2 and 3, characterised in that the screen is made of nylon mesh.
6. A dishwasher substantially as herein described with reference to the drawing.
