Complex fluorides such as silicofluorides and borofluorides are produced by reacting together a fluoride, an acid, and a salt or oxide, the necessary base and the element associated with fluorine in the acid complex being introduced by means of the fluoride, the salt, or the oxide. Examples mentioned are the production of potassium silicofluoride from potassium fluoride, silica, and hydrochloric acid, and sodium borofluoride from boron fluoride, sodium chloride and hydrofluoric acid. Equivalent quantities of the reagents may be stirred up in water. The reaction may be assisted by applying heat or pressure or both. Specification 237,615 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) mentions the production of titanofluorides. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
