Abstract
Alkali salts such as sodium or potassium nitrate, chloride or sulphate are treated with hydrofluosilicic acid to obtain the corresponding free acid and alkali silicofluoride. The latter is heated to obtain alkali fluoride and silicon fluoride and the alkali fluoride is reacted with calcium carbonate or hydrate to obtain alkali carbonate or hydrate and calcium fluoride. The calcium fluoride is treated with the silicon fluoride and with sulphuric acid to recover hydrofluosilicic acid. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the use of other complex fluorine acids such as hydrofluoboric acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.ALSO:Alkali salts such as sodium or potassium nitrate, chloride or sulphate are treated with hydrofluosilicic acid to obtain the corresponding free acid and alkali silicofluoride. The latter is heated to obtain alkali fluoride and silicon fluoride, and the alkali fluoride is reacted with calcium carbonate or hydroxide to obtain alkali carbonate or hydroxide and calcium fluoride. The calcium fluoride is treated with the silicon fluoride and with sulphuric acid to recover hydrofluosilicic acid. Specification 219,971 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes the use of other complex fluorine acids such as hydrofluoboric acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
