Cases; sound-boxes, arrangement of; mandrels.-In a portable taking machine in which the parts are adapted to be housed within the casing, the support for the sound-box, which may be constructed as described in Specification 237,249 and may carry a collapsable horn as described in Specification 237,255, is formed in two detachable parts for separate housing in the casing, which also accommodates the winding handle adapted to screw into the end of the winding spindle. The sound-box is supported 'during playing by two members, one comprising an L-shaped rod 13 having its shorter bent end engaging a socket 16 in the casing 1 and its longer bent end 15 upstanding, and the other comprising a rod 18 bent into a shallow U-form and extended and bent down at one end 21 to carry a socket 22 adapted to fit on the upstanding end 15 of the other member. The soundbox 7 pivots on the free end of the U-member 18 and is apertured at 9 and 10 for engagement thereon in two positions for playing with a needle or a stylus respectively. In either case it can be turned up on its supporting pivot to rest in the U-formation for changing the stylus or the record. In housing the parts, the U-member 18 is laid against the side of the cover 6 and held by a spring clip 23, and the L-member 13 is removed and its longer bent end 15 inserted in the socket 16 so that the part 13 and also the winding handle 24 can be held in the box 1 by a spring clip 17. The horn 8 is collapsed on the sound-box and placed over the turntable 4 of small diameter. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a cap 29, Fig. 12 (Cancelled), with spring fingers 30 adapted to engage a groove in the turntable spindle to hold and press the record on the turntable. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
