Cases; sound-boxes, mounting; external horns or the like, arranging and supporting. - In a pocket soundreproducing machine made in the form of a watch, as set forth in the parent Specification, the sound-box is rigidly connected to an arm pivoted upon another arm which, when the machine is to be used, can be pulled out to extend beyond the casing, but when inoperative lies within or closely against the casing. This arrangement in some cases enables larger records to be used on the machine. Figs. 1 and 2 show a construction in which the machine, when not in use, is enclosed in a two-part casing or shell 1, 2 having a slot through which a hollow winding- handle 31 protrudes. A brake-rod 32 passes through the handle. The sound-box m is carried by an arm 17, which is mounted at 23 for rotation about vertical and horizontal axes on a second arm 24<a> which is pivoted on the casing 15, and lies in a slot therein when the machine is not in use. When required, the arm 24a is swung out from the casing as shown in Fig. 2. The outer shell may be attached to the sound-box in either of two positions (shown in full and dotted lines) to form a resonance chamber. When the apparatus is to be packed up, the turntable 5, removed from its spindle, and a number of records can be placed between the outer shell and the sound-box, as shown in Fig. 1. Instead of being pivotally mounted, the arm 24a may be adapted to slide in the casing. In a modification, Fig, 4, a long arm 61 is pivoted at 62 on the casing, against which the arm lies closely when not in use. The outer end of the arm 61 has a socket 65 which forms a pivot bearing for an arm 66; this is adapted to form an extension of the rigid sound-box support 17, being provided at its end 70 with a socket in which the pivot stud 23 on the sound-box arm 17 can be clamped. Thus, when the parts are assembled as shown, the sound-box swings about the pivot 67, enabling a large record 64 to be used. A further modification consists in dispensing with the arm 61, and pivoting the arm 66 in a socket in the lid of the casing, the lid being in this instance hinged to the body so that it can be turned back through two right-angles.
