Abstract

253,749. Jacobson, J. Aug. 17, 1925. Cases; tone-arms; turntables.-A portable gramophone, of pocket size, comprises a casing made of two hinged portions 1, 2, the portion 1 constituting a closed compartment containing the spring motor, whilst the other 2 has arranged therein a movable plate 12 on which is mounted a telescopic tone-arm 14, 15. The plate 12 is normally placed flat against the bottom of the compartment 2, but is held in raised position when the machine is to be used, by means of an arm 16, pivoted at 16<1> on the plate and engaging over flanges 13 on the edges of the casing as well as under tongues 18 on the plate. A door 19 is provided in one side of the part 2 of the casing, and, though normally held closed by a spring, is kept open when the plate 12 is raised by pins 20 on the free end of an elastic arm 17 which is mounted on the pivot 16<1>. The pins project through the plate 12. With the door 19 open and the plate 12 raised, the compartment 2 forms a sound-amplifier. A record is mounted on a hub 6 at the projecting end of a spindle 5, driven by the motor, the record being clamped by a washer 7 and nut 8.
