Abstract

The principle of a structural bay pole is to stabilise the bearing weight on the windows. A structural bay pole is comprised of three parts (A,B,C). One member (A) is a plate upon which is welded a length of continuous threaded screw, at a perpendicular angle. The main member (B) is a tube. At one end is welded a threaded insert. At the other end of the main pole (B) is a hole where the base plate (C) locates. The base plate (C) consists of a flat, upon which a locating lug is welded.

Description

ADJUSTABLE STRUCTURAL BAY POLE (3 PART)
This invention is concerned with the replacement of support when wooden or other types of load bearing windows are replaced with modem non-load bearing windows.
The principle is to stabilise the bearing weight on the windows.
A structural pole is comprised of three parts (A, B, C). One member (A) is a plate upon which is welded a length of continuous threaded screw, at a perpendicular angle.
The main member (B) is a tube. At one end is welded a threaded insert.
At the other end of the main pole (B) is a hole where the base plate (C) locates. The base plate (C) consists of a metal flat, upon which a locating lug is welded.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. An adjustable screwed jack that supports a structure such as a window or the like. Figure4 2. A screw type jack that is made of three parts, where parts A and B can be secured for minimum slippage. Figure 1 3. A screw type jack that is raised and lowered by inserting a rod or the
like into the adjusting pole, Figure 3+4 4. The pole having a fixed threaded insert means a pre-determined load can be tested.
    5. The jack is envisaged to be used in the fields of building construction and industry. (1) Amended claims have been filed as follows 1. A jack for supporting window recesses comprised of three parts, one part being a bearing cap or lug affixed to an angled profile, the cap/lug receiving one end of a structural pole, the second part being the structural pole, one end of which located over the bearing cap/lug and on the other end of which is provided an internal screw fitting, the third part being a threaded rod and angled profile, with the threaded rod set perpendicular to the angled-profile and which rod fits the screwed end of the structural pole whereby by turning/adjusting the pole relative to the screwed rod, length adjustment of the jack is obtained.
  2. 2. A jack as claimed in claim 1 and in which the pole is made of steel.
  3. 3. A jack as claimed in claim 2 and in which the pole is galvanised.
  4. 4. A jack substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
