Abstract
A duvet holder comprises two sections 4 and two duvets 5,6, each inserted in a respective section. The duvets, which can be of different tog values, are kept in place by press studs 1,2. The duvet holder is inserted in a duvet cover. In an alternative embodiment, two duvets of differing tog values are zipped together, and are inserted directly into the cover without the use of a holder.
Description
DUVET HOLDER AND DUVETS
This invention relates to a duvet holder and duvets.
BACKGROUND AND REASON FOR INVENTION
In general duvets can be fastened together, by placing 1 on top of the other and attaching the 2 together, with press-studs. This creates a different weight (tog) and therefore users can have a summer or winter weighted duvet. However, this means that both users have to sleep under the same weighted duvet. If one person is hot and the other is cold, there is no alternative.
Sometimes people feel uncomfortable sharing the same duvet. The duvet holder and duvets allow individuals to sleep at their own comfort level, whilst sleeping under 1 duvet cover.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig 1 shows an open duvet holder. 1 is the top press-stud and 2 is the bottom press-stud. The stitched divided seam is clearly marked 3 (running vertically from top to bottom of the duvet holder). The 2 sections of the duvet holder are also clearly marked 4.
Fig 2 shows the duvets 5 and 6 fitting into the different sections of the duvet holder 4 (1 represents the top press-studs and 2 represents the bottom press-studs)
Fig 3 shows the duvets 5 and 6 inside the sections of the duvet holder 4, from a front view.
The duvet holder then fits into a duvet cover 7 and the duvet cover is fastened together by the top press-studs, 8 and the bottom press-studs, 9
Fig 4 shows the duvets 5 and 6 fastened together by their interlocking zips 10. This is an alternative to using the duvet holder i. e. the duvets just zip together and then fit into a duvet cover 7. The duvet cover then fastens together with the top press-studs, 8 and the bottom press-studs, 9.
Please refer to the following:
Fig 1-The duvet holder will have 2 sections, 4, allowing 1 duvet per section, to be inserted.
The duvet holder will have a sewn seam, 3, running exactly down the centre (vertically, from top to bottom), producing a duvet holder, with 2 sections or pockets. The duvet holder will have press-studs running the horizontal length of the 2 sections, allowing each section, to open and close. The open press-stud is 1 and the closed is 2
Fig 2-The duvets marked 5 and 6, are smaller than the duvet holder, so as to fit inside each section of the holder. The duvets are exactly the same dimensions as each other, apart from weight (tog) and height. The duvets come in 2 sizes i. e. they can be made to fit into a double or king-sized duvet holder. If duvet holder dimensions vary in different countries, or U. K sizes vary, then the duvets can be manufactured accordingly. In addition if new sizes of duvet holders are introduced in different countries or the U. K, the duvets can also be manufactured to fit these different dimensions. They can be various weights (i. e. togs) one could be 12 tog and the other 20 tog. Duvet togs can be made from the smallest to the highest tog. The idea being to have a different tog in each section of the duvet holder, to suit the comfort requirements of the individuals.
Fig 3-The duvet holder will fit into any king or double sized duvet cover 7.
(It is not designed for single beds). The duvet holders come in 2 sizes: king-size and double size. However, if duvet cover dimensions vary in different countries, or U. K sizes vary, then the duvet holders can be manufactured accordingly. In addition if new sizes of duvet covers are introduced in different countries or the U. K, the duvet holders can also be manufactured to fit these different sizes. Once ready for use, the whole of the duvet holder (containing 2 duvets) is placed inside a double/king size cover and the whole of the duvet cover is fastened together by its top press-studs, 8 and its bottom press-studs, 9.
Fig 4-The duvets can also be zipped together by inter-locking zips, 10, that run vertically down the edge of each duvet. The zips are an alternative to using the duvet holder and are a quicker method of fastening the duvets together, whereas the duvet holder provides more resistance to wear and tear and to the duvets becoming separated.
(It is the user's choice which method they prefer to use)
The duvet holder and duvets give the owner flexibility i. e. different togged duvets can be alternated if necessary i. e. no one has to keep the same 2 weighted duvets forever.
Material
The duvets and duvet holders can be made of any type of appropriate material, (non-flammable) preferred
Consistency
The duvet holder will be sufficiently pliable and will stretch enough to accommodate the various togs of the duvets that will be inserted into each section of the duvet holder.
Fasteners
Other types of fasteners, where appropriate could be used to hold the duvet holder together, as an alternative to press-studs
