Abstract

236,715. Nicoll, L. G. June 17, 1924. Ornamental photographs.-The ornamentation of wood, metal, pulp-board, natural or artificial stone by forming thereon a photographic representation of the grain of wood or the veining of artificial stone is effected by producing a bromide print by the projection of light through an ordinary negative containing a representation of the grain &c., or a positive obtained therefrom, on a bromide stripping paper, the exposure of which is controlled locally, and transferring the emulsion, after development and fixing, to a sheet of glass or other transparent material, thus forming a corrected negative or positive transparency adapted to be used for the preparation of contact prints which are subsequently transferred to the surface to be decorated. In order to reproduce the effect of quartering, the alternate images of the grain are positive and negative representations. Specifications 221,235 and 236,714 are referred to.
