Abstract

236,616. Richardson, W. W. April 2, 1924. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Garages; warehouses. - Means are provided in garages for motor vehicles to enable each vehicle to be moved directly in a lateral or longitudinal ,direction at will. In one form, the garage floor is divided into bays with connecting gangways, and is provided with rollers 12 sunk into the floor and transporter carriages 10 with rollers 28 on the under surfaces disposed at right-angles to the rollers in the floor. Each vehicle is driven on to. a transporter carriage which then rolls on the floor longitudinally and on its own rollers laterally to the desired bay. The carriages are made adjustable laterally by telescopic rods 21, 22 to provide for different widths of vehicle. In another form, the longitudinal motion of the vehicle is obtained by rolling it on its own wheels whilst lateral movement is obtained by roller ways 40 located in the garage floor, each comprising sliding platforms 41 which roll on rollers 42 mounted in frames 43 in the floor. The roller ways may be replaced by endless bands 50, 51 let into the garage floor and arranged in staggered fashion, Fig. 8. Again, carriages may travel on sets of rails disposed at right-angles in the garage floor with suitable junctions. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 12370/15 and 120,169.
