Abstract

A ladder stabiliser is formed from a coarsely threaded bar and a backing plate with two apertures. The backing plate is fixed to a leg of a ladder and the threaded bar passes through the apertures. The threaded bar engages with corresponding threads on the inside of the apertures and height adjustment is accomplished by rotation of the bar relative to the apertures. The ladder stabilisers can be present on both legs of a ladder and may incorporate replaceable oval shaped rubber pads at the bottom of the stabilisers for increased slip resistance.

Description

1 2360319 LADDER STABILIZER The invention comprise's of two separate
unit's which connect to each leg of a ladder offering an amount of height adjustment and increased stability. The height adjustment allow's the ladder to be used on uneven surface's and also upon stair's.
There are at the moment device's on the market which allow ladder's to be used on uneven surface's, but most are bulky and not connected to the ladder, making them impractical when a certain amount of mobility is required. For the most part when working off an uneven surface foreign object's such as brick's of piece's of wood are used under the leg of a ladder to straighten it. This is once again impractical as well as highly unsafe.
The aim of my invention is to make ladder's safer, easier and more versatile to use.
The invention bolt's to the ladder through hole's in the backing plate's and corrosponding hole's drilled through the ladder. Large oval foot pads offer increased stability on uneven surface's.
The following drawing's and description provide all the information required to manufacture the invention.
Figure 1 Show's a two dimensional view of the invention.
Figure 2 Show's the invention's ability to be used on uneven surface's.
