Abstract

A platform for supporting a ladder or step ladder on stairs comprises a timber constructional platform with a non-skid surface on a supporting steel frame to which telescopic legs are welded. The legs have large diameter rubber sucker feet. The platform has holes for screws if the platform is to be fixed to the stairs for extended use. <IMAGE>

Description

STAIRS PLATFORM - SPECIFICATION.
THE PLATFORM IS TO BE USED ON ANY STAIRS TO PROVIDE A LEVEL SURFACE ROM WHICH STEPS OR LADDERS CAN BE SUPPORTED TO CARRY OUT INSTALLATION OR MAINTENANCE WORKS.
THE PLATFORM SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF A STEEL FRAME AND TIMBER PLATFORM TO SPAN 3 No. TREADS AND 2 No. RISERS, WITH THE RISERS MADE OF TELESCOPIC TUBE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE VARIABLE DIMENSIONS OF DOMESTIC AND COMMERCIAL STAIRS.
THE PLATFORM PLATFORM SHALL BE OF TIMBER CONSTRUCTION WITH A NON-SKID SURFACE APPLIED TO THE UPPER FACE. IT WILL ALSO HAVE STOP ENDS WHICH WILL HAVE SCREW HOLE INCORPORATED IN THE STOP ENDS AND ALSO IN THE SHALLOW END OF THE TREAD AREA, TO ALLOW THE UNIT TO BE TEMPORARILY FIXED BY SCREW(S) INTO THE STAIRTREAD OR THE STAIR RISER IF THIS SHOULD BE REQUIRED FOR EXTRA STABILITY, FOR JOBS OF A LONGER DURATION.
THE PLATFORM SHALL HAVE A SUPPORTING STEEL FRAME RUNNING THE WHOLE LENGTH AND WIDTH OF THE TIMBER PLATFORM, ONTO WHICH SHALL BE WELDED 4 No. TELESCOPIC LEGS ALSO OF TUBULAR STEEL CONSTRUCTION, AND SHALL BE HELD IN POSITION WITH A REMOVABLE STEEL PIN. THE LEGS WILL TERMINATE ONTO LARGE DIAMETER RUBBER SUCKER FEET 4 No. PLUS 2 No. LARGE DIAMETER RUBBER SUCKER FEET AT THE SHALLOW END OF THE PLATFORM. MAKING 6 No. RUBBER FEET IN TOTAL.
KEY TO THE DRAWINGS 1. Non-slip timber plate.
2. Telescopic leg.
3. Bracing angle.
4. Sucker feet.
5. Fixing holes.
6. Steel top frame.
7. Platform stop ends.
8. Leg clamping arm.

Claims (7)

1. The STAIRS PLATFORM is designed to create a level working surface
onto existing stairs.
2. The invention is to be adjustable to cater for varying sizes of treads and risers, using adjustable legs.
3. The STAIRS PLATFORM will have a non-slip top surface in order to prevent the movement of any appliance used thereon.
4. The STAIRS PLATFORM shall be light and mobile.
5. The units are to be produced in a standard size.
6. Special sizes for particular applications can be manufactured to special order.
