Abstract
235,979. Buncher & Haseler, Ltd., and Rodgers, R. C. April 5, 1924. Hollow - ware. - Sheet-metal cooking and like vessels are provided at the mouth with a substantially solid rim 10, Fig. 9, of triangular section, one face 13 of which is flush with the mouthopening, the sloping face 15 and the inner upturned portion being bulged into the wall of the vessel at 10 so as to leave no crevice in which dirt can accumulate. The operation is performed in a series of steps. Starting with a cylindrical vessel rotatably mounted on a chuck, a flange 2. Fig. 2, is first formed, which is next curled into the substantially semi-circular shape shown in Fig. 3. By the aid of a beading-wheel 4, Fig. 7, this is converted into a bead 5, Fig. 4, which is subjected to pressure, above and below, to produce the flattened oval bead 6, Fig. 5. The oval bead is operated upon by a beading- wheel 7, Fig. 8, formed with a substantially triangular groove 8, which converts it into the final form of substantially solid bead, as shown in Fig. 9.
