Abstract

235,899. Pedersen, P. C. June 18, 1924, [Convention date]. Pump-actuating mechanism.-An air pump driven off the motor of an automobile is provided with means for holding it out of engagement comprising a pin on the cam actuated piston rod which is engaged by a pivoted arm for withdrawing the rod from contact with the driving cam. The roller 12 on the piston rod 6 is normally held against the cam 9 on the motor shaft 8 by the spring 10. The pump is mounted on a bracket 2 to which an arm 38 is pivotally attached at 39, and is adapted to bear against a pin 22 which is secured to the rod and projects through a slot in the bracket. For disengaging the drive, the arm 38 is swung up to the dotted position 38' and is locked there by the notch 40, the cam roller 12 being thus held free from the cam. The spring 10 instead of encircling the rod 6 may be placed alongside the rod.
