235,626. Fritz, E. B. March 17, 1924. Pulping engines.-In apparatus for reducing paper, rags, pulp, and other materials used in paper making the material from one or other of the mixing tanks 1 is fed to a reservoir 6 and from thence to a number of beaters arranged one above the other and comprising beater rolls 14 and corrugated plates 13, the corrugations of the plates being broken in their lower halves as at 13a, Fig. 3. A pump 21 is provided for circulation of the material when necessary, and the flow of the material is regulated by valves 5.
