Abstract

A container (2) includes a hinged, lockable lid (1), a slot (3)on one side of the container and mounting mechanism (4, figure 2). In use, the container is mounted to the inside of a vehicle (Figure 4) such that it may only be removed when the container is unlocked and the lid is open.

Description

2354799 SECURABLE LOCKING MONEY CONTAINER This invention relates to a
locking money container securable to the interior of a vehicle body.
Locking money or valuables containers are in common use to protect a range of items and comprise a strong container, a means of access and a locking mechanism to control such access.
The theft and robbery of money and takings from vehicles, especially from the drivers of private hire vehicles is an increasing problem.
A money container secured to the body of a vehicle will permit safer storage of money. In addition, provision for the deposition of money but limited means for its removal via a locking mechanism and remote storage of the key may help prevent theft and robbery.
The present invention provides a lockable money container with means for securing the container to the interior body of a vehicle. Limited access to the container is permitted through a slot with full access permitted via a locking, hinged lid.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: - Figure 1. Shows in perspective, the container prior to securing to a vehicle body, with the lid closed. Figure 2. Shows in perspective, the container prior to securing to a vehicle body, with the lid open. Figure 3. Shows I plan view the detail of the underside of the container lid. Figure 4. Shows the container secured in a possible position on a vehicle body.
Referring to Figure 1. The container comprises a body 1 with a hinged lid 2 and a slot 3 for the deposition of money.
Figure 2 illustrates the internal detail of the container including the mounting holes 4; lid support members 5 and the lock keep 6.
The lid is hinged to the body of the container and Figure 3 illustrates the lock 7, the lock mounting position and hinge detail 8.
The container is secured to the body of a vehicle and Figure 4 illustrates a possible mounting position.

Claims (5)

1. A container comprising a hinged, lockable lid, a slot on one side of the container for the deposition of money with mounting mechanism in the base for secure fixing to the interior of a vehicle body.
2. A lockable container as claimed in claim 1, where removal of the container via its mounting system is only possible when the container is unlocked and the lid open.
3. A locking container as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the slot restricts access to the inside of the container to a limited number of bank notes or coins.
4. A locking container as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2 or claim 3 wherein the locking mechanism is on the underside of the lid and full, unrestricted access to the container is only permitted via use of a key.
5. A locking container substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 - 4 of the accompanying drawings.
