Abstract

Switches, quick-action; flexible-pull actuation. -Successive depressions of an actuating-member R cause a pivoted switch-arm C to move alternately into and out of engagement with contacts D, a quick action being provided at the actual points of both make and break. The member R carries a pawl 0 which engages a ratchet wheel mounted with the member R on an, axis M and fixed to a star wheel A having half the number of teeth of the ratchet wheel. Depression and release of the member R rotates the star wheel further and causes another tooth to engage a A so that one of its teeth presses the switch arm C against the contacts D. A further depression and release of the member R rotates the star wheel roller L on the other end of the arm C to press the latter out of contact, a spring K assisting the action. Also mounted on the axis M and fixed to the star wheel A is a second star wheel E, Fig. 3, the teeth of which engage spring pressed rollers F so as to give a quick action to the concluding portions of the opening and closing movements. The switch may be actuated from two points at a distance by cords or the like connected to levers T, U which engage the actuating member R.
