Abstract

The device comprises a funnel portion 1 and a flexible portion 5. In use the device is inserted into the ground and liquid poured into the funnel portion, the liquid being delivered to the plants roots via the flexible portion. The device may have depth markers 3 and two holes 4 in the flexible portion which also comprises a pointed end 2. The device may be inserted in walls and may be used to kill weeds.

DESCRIPTION

The root feeder is approximately 91nches long with a 21/2 inch diameter funnel that narrows sharply to a % inch diameter tube (the tube being pointed at the end). The tube is hollow to within 1/2 inch of the end, where two small holes will allow liquid to flow through. Made of plastic or other similar material that is strong enough to be inserted into the soil, but flexible enough for the tube to be bent at various angles. -Re tube is also marked out in order to set the required depth.

Claims

1. As all plant roots feed at different depth's, the markings on the tube section lets you know how deep to set the device. As some plants need more feed than others, this will cater for an, particular plant's needs.

2. fn the case of deep-rooted weeds on lawns (such as dandelions etc.), the device can be set to its maximum depth, then weed killer can be 'inserted into the funnel. After a week or so the weeds will have been destroyed leaving a bare patch. This will simply need raking and reseeding, because the weed killer will not be in the surface soil.

3. Plants with weed protection (such as plastic sheeting, woodchips and gravel) can still receive food as the device is pointed and narrow and will easily penetrate through the protection,

4. The device is flexible and can be bent at various angles allowing it to penetrate into dry stone walls, under rocks or anywhere in the garden where weeds or plants need attention. The feeder can easily be restraightened.

5, The device can be set next to individual plants and be fed quickly by liquid type foods; alternatively granule type foods can be placed in the funnel and be allowed to dissolve naturally.

3 Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows CLAIMS Claim 1 A funnel comprising a mouth or cup portion and a hollow stem or shank with depth markings and two holes above a sharp point at the base.

Claim 2 A funnel as claimed in claim 1 designed to receive granules or fluid.

Claim 3 A hollow shank or stem as claimed in claim 1 made of a durable flexible material with a sharp pointed solid tip.

Claim 4 A stem or shank as claimed in claim 1 or 3 that has two small outlet holes above the sharp solid tip of stem.

Claim 5 A stem or shank as claimed in claim 1-3 and 4 hollow from fimel to outlet holes that can be bent at various angles.

Claim6 A -stem or -qhnnk as claimed in 1-3-4 and 5 which has depth markings from above outlet holes to top of shank below funnel.
