Abstract

234,682. Piombo, S. Sept. 3, 1924. Sack - holders. - The sack is carried by pins 14 projecting from cranked shafts 6, 7, mounted on the side members of a U-shaped horizontal frame 4 mounted adjustably on a vertical member 3 extending from a wheeled stand 1. The cranks 10, 11 of the shafts are connected by a link 17 so that when the one shaft 6 is rocked by the actuation of a handle 13 the other shaft is rocked in the opposite direction. The handle 13 is pivoted on the shaft 6 and normally falls into a catch formed by a member 17. A spring on the shaft 6 tends to maintain it in a position with the pins vertical. In operation, after the sack, which has been resting on the stand 1, with its upper end held open by engaging the pins 14, has been filled, the shafts are both turned inwards bv the handle 13 thus permitting the sack to fall from the pins. When the device is used with a sack of the drawcord type the sack is hung up and supported by the pins and the cord is passed over a hook 18. After the sack is filled the shafts are turned, allowing the sack to fall from the pins, and thus pulling the draw-cord tight. The cord is then freed from the hook by the operation of a treadle 24 connected to the hook.
