Abstract

A carrier bag comprises reflective and/or refractive and/or phosphorescent material to make it, and thus a pedestrian carrying it, more visible to road traffic in the dark. The bag may be made from low density or high density polyethylene or from kraft paper, each including the above material. Additionally or alternatively, the bag may be printed with advertising or other information using inks which incorporate a reflective and/or refractive and/or phosphorescent material.

T' 1' 2341381 DESCRPTION This invention relates to a reflective paper or plastic carrier bag.
Disposable plastic and/or paper carrier bags sold or given to customers by supermarkets, shops and many other businesses are commonplace. These carrier bags Are either plain, or printed with advertising matter.
According to the present invention, the functionality of the carrier bag is enhanced by making the bag reflective by the inclusion of a reflective and/or refractive and/or phosphorescent medium in the material of the bag and/or in the inks used for printing on the bag.
1 CLAIMS
1. A low density polyethylene carrier bag made with polyethylene containing reflective and/or refractive and/or phosphorescent material which will make it visible in the dark and thereby make pedestrian users more visible to road traffic.
2. A high density polyethylene carrier bag made with polyethylene contairg reflective and/or refractive and/or phosphorescent material which will make it visible in the dark and thereby make pedestrian users more visible to road traffic.
3. A paper carrier bag made with kraft paper containing reflective and/or refractive and/or phosphorescent material which will make it visible in the dark and thereby make pedestrian users more visible to road traffic.
4. A carrier bag as claimed in any preceding claim which has been printed with advertising or other information using inks which incorporate a reflective and/or refractive and/or phosphorescent material which will make the carrier bag visible in the dark and thereby make pedestrian users more visible to road traffic.
5. Any combination of any or all of the preceding claims one through four.
