Abstract

A postcard embodies a compact disc (CD) (8) in its thickness within an impression (6) formed in one of its faces. The CD (8) can be used after having been removed from such impression where it is fitted. The surface at sight of the CD (8) has a printed image which integrates itself with the image printed on the postcard (4) so that the total image is recomposed only when the CD (8) is located within the impression. The postcard is supplied in a closed, transparent envelope (10) of cellophane or similar material keeping the CD (8) in its position during the movements. A label provided with the spaces for the address, postage and any message is applied on the back of said envelope.

Description

Post card embodying a removable compact disc
The present invention relates to the particular combination of a postcard and a compact disc (CD) that is embodied in the thickness of the postcard within an impression formed in one face of the postcard and can be used after having been removed from such impression where it is fitted.
According to a peculiar feature of the invention, the surface at sight of the CD has a printed image which integrates itself with the image printed on the postcard so that the total image is recomposed only when the CD is located within the impression. The postcard is supplied in a closed, transparent envelope or packing of cellophane or similar material keeping the CD in its position during the movements. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, a label with the spaces for address, message and postage is applied on the back of the envelope.
The invention allows tourists to send also a CD with typical music and songs of the visited sites instead of a simple postcard showing only the beauties of those sites as visual memory.
Further features and advantages of the invention will be more readily apparent from the following description with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the postcard embodying the CD and wrapped in its transparent film envelope;
Fig. 2 is a section view of the same envelope;
Fig. 3 shows the back of the envelope with the label for address and message;
Figs . 4 and 5 show the postcard and the CD without envelope, respectively.
As can be seen in the Figures, the invention provides a postcard 4 with essentially rectangular elongated shape carrying a circular impression 6 formed in its thickness and capable of accommodating a compact disc 8 at the centre of one of its faces.
According to a feature of the invention, the face at sight of the disc shows pictures and/or images which integrate themselves with those of the postcard. In order to avoid an accidental detaching of the CD from the support postcard during the transportation of the postal pieces, the invention is supplied within a transparent envelope or packing 10 preferably of cellophane, polyethylene or other similar material which allows the picture to be seen.
A paper label 12 on which the sender can write the address and any message is applied on the back of the envelope . Once the packing/envelope is opened, the addressee can remove the CD from the postcard and listen to it by a CD player in the usual manner, whereupon he can put it back into its support so as to recover the original image .
The present invention has been described according to a preferred embodiment thereof shown in the drawings, however, it should be understood that those skilled in the art can make a number of modifications without departing from the scope of the present invention as defined in the appended claims. For example, the postcard with CD can be put into an envelope or packing of plastic transparent film together with other postcards, booklets or illustrative folding leaflets showing the views described by the CD.
