Abstract
233,873. Sandeman, R. L. May 5, 1924. Pile-fabric looms.-In looms for weaving pile fabrics wherein the raised pile warps are received on stationary blade or hook-like detents A, A2, Fig. 1, provided with cutting blades A1, such as described in Specification 205,130, the raised pile warp threads are engaged by elements B, Figs. 1 and 3, one for each warp thread, these elements being mounted on the lay or on a part moving therewith and presenting the warp threads to the detents. The elements B may comprise vertical wires with bent ends B1 and cranked parts B3 engaged by a rack operated by lever mechanism and a cam. When the lay is back, the pile warps are raised and pass between the parts Bl. The wires B are then turned so that the parts B1 engage one another and close the spaces between the wires, whereby the warp threads are retained and are carried over the detent's &c. A, A2 as the lay advances. The wires B are then operated to release the warp threads, which are retained by the detents &c. The wires may be arranged at an angle, or may be replaced by elements B, Fig. 6, having lower ends B1 in the form of helicoidal arcs mounted side by side on a spindle G, which is rotated in one direction to cause the presenting elements to engage and retain the raised pile threads B and is rotated in the reverse direction to cause the elements to release the threads. The presenting elements may be in the form of helicoidal discs mounted on the spindle G. According to the Provisional Specification, helicoidallyended fingers may be used.
