Abstract

233,633. Wachter, F. Jan. 22 ,1925. Cases; keyless mechanism.-Watches in which the winding stem and crown act for the dual purpose of winding the spring and setting the hands are provided with means on the casing adapted when operated to lift the winding stem to disconnect the winding gear and throw the hand-setting mechanism into operative connection. The watch 9, Fig. 1, is provided with slidable members 12 formed with finger-pieces 15 and inclines 14 and adapted when pressed together to lift the winding crown 10, the members 12 automatically returning to their normal positions under the action of springs 17. As applied to a round watch-case the sliding members 19, connected to washers 24, may be disposed as shown in Fig. 2, while in a watch having a bow and pendant 25, Fig. 4. the members 30 are formed with pins 32 and are controlled by a tension spring 36. In a further modification, the crown raising means comprises levers 48, Fig. 6, pivotally mounted in brackets 49 secured on the watchcase 50, the inner ends 51 of the levers 48 being adapted to raise the crown 52 on depression of the outer ends of the said levers.
