Recesses l are provided in the sides of the gap into which the inner edges of the strips expand to ensure their retention. Bolts m draw the capping piece e into the gap, their heads being sunk into the capping piece; the spaces above the heads are filled with screwed fibre plugs n. Plate-securing means as described in Specification 223,757 or 233,642 may be used, and the capping piece described in the first-named Specification may be modified as set out above.
