Abstract

Crystal detectors.-The usual metal supports for the contact members are replaced by supports of insulating material, and connection is made to these members by flexible wires. The supports e, f may be L-shaped pieces of ebonite &c. adjustably secured to an insulating base by bolts g in slots h. The crystal is secured in a metal cup 4 by a wire helix 8 screwed on the outside. The cup 4 is carried by a screw of metal or of insulating material, the wire 10 being coiled round the screw at 11 so as to make contact with the cup when the latter is screwed home. Alternatively a nut and washer may be used for connecting the wire to the cup. The other wire 2 is preferably soldered in a groove in the ball member.
