Abstract

An anti-dazzle sun visor extension is hingedly attached to a normal sun visor to prevent dazzle for a smaller driver from sunlight or headlights. The extension may be made from a tinted thin plastics material, such as used in sunglasses.

Description

INVENTION DESCRIPTION Anti-dazzle sunvisor extention. To be attached to normal sunvisor to stop sunlight and car headlights blinding the driver in the area below normal visor. This area is very difficult for smaller drivers, or taller sized drivers, when driving up hills, when pulling down normal visor. If sunlight or headlights still dazzle, then you have and extra aid to stop dazzle. To make driving safer, and to reduce eye strain for passenger as well as driver by fitting one both sides.
It can be fixed many ways: by Velcro, by screws, by glue, by clip, by being slotted on with elasticated bands. It could be fitted to new cars as an extra aid. It could be made to the size sunvisor in vehicles when new, each manufacture has his own design or shape and colour.
The Extention visor could be attached to any vehicle with a visor. The one in the photographs is toStow that it can be applied to a vehicle and work. Itts a full size model made of light plastic. not the tinted material that it will be made of, or reactolite for the up market cars.
The width could vary on the extention visor according to the make of the car. The one in photographs is aimed mainly at cars on the road at the moment.
It would be feather light in weight so would not affect the cars sunvisor performance at all. It would be there to use for moments when the normal visor is down but you're still blinded by the glare of the sun. Those heart stopping moments gone by bringing the extention visor down.
The plastic and hinge used in photographs are only to show how it could work. There would be no gap between the visor or extention visor on the hinge on the finished visor.
The driver in photograph is only 5ft 1 inch tall, that is why the extention visor was created.
Driver's Aid According to the present invention there is provided a driver's aid for use in combination with an opaque visor for a vehicle windscreen, the aid comprising a screen member of light attenuating material and means for hingedly mounting the screen member in the region of the windscreen; the aid having an in use position in which the screen member at least partially occupies the driver's field of vision, as restricted by the opaque visor, and a stowed position in which the screen member is substantially removed from the said field of vision.
