Abstract
232,782. Dubilier, W. April 30, 1924. Condensers. - A condenser for use in high-frequency highvoltage circuits comprises a number of sections in parallel, each section including a number of conducting plates which are isolated from each other and from other conducting plates connected to the terminals. One such section is shown in Fig 2 and comprises a series of conducting plates 2 and dielectric plates 1 clamped between metal end plates 3, 4, which serve as terminals. In a modification, Fig. 3, the plates are divided into groups by interposed metallic blocks 9, 10 in order to lengthen the oreepage path across the section between the terminal plates 3, 4. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 6, eight sections 22 - - 29 are assembled between clamping-members 30, 31, with flexible conducting strips 15 - - 21, between the sections. The conducting strips are connected alternately to terminals 32, 33, the eight sections being thus connected in parallel. In a modification, Fig. 7, the sections are arranged in four groups 44 - - 47, separated by insulating members 48, 49, 55, and intermediate connecting points 37, 41, 42 are provided as shown, so that the main terminals 32, 33 are connected together through pairs of sections in parallel, the sections of each pair being in series. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 9, the sections are clamped under spring tension between end portions 51 of spring metal bound together by piano wire 52. The complete condenser may be housed in a casing 50 filled with insulating compound. Specifications 140,046, 156,483, and 195,266 are referred to.
