Abstract

232,654. Vicars, T., and Vicars, E. L. Dec. 21, 1923. Sheet-cutting machines.-Cut biscuits &c. are delivered by a conveyer on to pans movable laterally of the direction of travel of the conveyer. The pans are stationary during delivery and the delivery conveyer is furnished with a knife which reciprocates the distance of a pan to deliver a complete panful of biscuits &c. As shown, the biscuits pass from a cutting conveyer 73 on to the delivery conveyer 26 via intermediate and distributing conveyers 60, 44, and are delivered on to pans carried by transverselymoving chains 32. The conveyers 60, 44 are driven continuously and the conveyer 26 is driven through segmental gears 19, 22 and 20, 23 so as to move forward at increased speed after receiving biscuits from the conveyer 44 and then remain stationary while the knife 29 is reciprecated to deliver the biscuits to a pan. The conveyers 60, 44 are also furnished with reciprocating knife edges, the conveyer 60 being arranged to deliver half a cut of biscuits to the conveyer 44. Motion is imparted to the various conveyers through gearing from the shaft 1 and the various knife edges are operated through lever mechanism.
