Description

Title : MULTI-FUNCTIONAL ROASTING RECEPTACLE This invention relates to a roasting receptacle, more particularly to a multi-functional roasting receptacle that is simple in construction and that is easy to use.
A conventional barbecue stove is typically used only for roasting food. An additional cooker, such as a pot or a pan, is necessary for cooking food in another way such as frying. Moreover, roasting food with such a stove is inconvenient, because the food must be turned over again and again so as to ensure that the food is thoroughly roasted or that the food does not become charred. In addition, the smoke arising from the stove tends to irritate one's nose and eyes.
The objective of the present invention is to provide a multi-functional roasting receptacle which can be conveniently used.
According to this invention, a roasting receptacle includes a base member, a planar roasting member and a cover. The base member includes a bottom and a surrounding wall. The bottom has a central hole as a fire inlet, a rim which extends upwardly from the bottom around the central hole, and a containing region between the rim and the surrounding wall. The surrounding wall has a top end, a first shoulder below the top end, and a second shoulder between the first shoulder and the top end. The planar roasting member has a peripheral end to be seated against the first shoulder. The cover has a lower edge to rest on the second shoulder.
Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent in the following detailed description of preferred embodiments of the invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Figure 1 is an exploded view of the first preferred embodiment of a multi-functional roasting receptacle according to this invention; Figure 2 is a sectional view of the first preferred embodiment shown in Figure 1; and Figure 3 is an exploded view of the second preferred embodiment of this invention.
Referring to Figure 1, the first preferred embodiment of a roasting receptacle according to the present invention is shown to comprise a base member 2, a planar roasting member 3 and a cover 4.
The base member 2 includes a flat bottom 201 and a surrounding wall 202. The bottom 201 has a central hole 21 as a fire inlet, a rim 211 which extends upwardly from the bottom 201 around the central hole 21, and a containing region 20 between the rim 211 and the surrounding wall 202. In this embodiment, the rim 211 tapers upward from the bottom 201 to converge the fire entering through the central hole 21. Referring to Figure 2, the surrounding wall 202 includes a radial and outward first flange portion 221, a first skirt portion 222 which forms a first shoulder 223 with the first flange portion 221 and which extends upwardly from the distal end of the first flange portion 221, a second flange portion 224 which extends outwardly from the distal end of the first skirt portion 222, and a second skirt portion 225 which forms a second shoulder 226 with the second flange portion 224 and which extends upwardly from the distal end of the second flange portion 224. The second skirt 225 has a top end 22.
In addition, the base member 2 has a pair of handles 23 on the surrounding wall 202.
The planar roasting member 3 includes a plurality of concentric rings 31 of different diameters. The rings 31 are joined together by radial ribs 32. The rings 31 have an innermost ring 311 whose size corresponds to that of the central hole 21 in the base member 2. The radial ribs 32 are bent upward at the innermost ring 311 to form stop members 321 for bounding the food on the planar roasting member 3.
The rings 31 has an outermost ring 312 to be seated against the first shoulder 223.
The cover 4 has a lower edge 42 to rest on the second shoulder 226, and can serve as a pan for cooking food. In addition, the cover 4 has a pair of handles 41 on its outside.
Referring to Figure 2, in use, the planar roasting member 3 is put on the top end 22 of the base member 2 such that the outermost ring 312 is seated against the first shoulder 223, and the lower edge 42 of cover 4 rests on the second shoulder 226 to confine a closed space 5. The food can be put on the planar roasting member 3 while a heater, such as a gas-stove, is used to heat the bottom 201 of the base member 2.
The flame in the central region of the gas-stove (not shown) enters the closed space 5 from the central hole 21 as shown by the broken-lines in Figure 2, thereby generating a convection heat in the close space 5 above the planar roasting member 3. The flame in the peripheral region of the stove (indicated by the solid lines in Figure 2) can heat up the bottom 201 of the base member 2 to produce a convective heating current below the planar roasting member 3. By the abovedescribed heat convection, food can be cooked without turning over the same. Furthermore, since the food is put on the planar roasting member 3 rather than directly on the bottom 201, the problem of charring of the food can be alleviated.
In addition, the cover 4 can be used as a pan to directly contain the food for frying, cooking, etc.
Moreover, the base member 2 can be used alone for frying or deep frying the food in the containing region 20.
Referring to Figure 3, a second embodiment of the present invention is shown. Unlike the first embodiment, the planar roasting member is a plate-like member 6 and has a plurality of concavities 61 for receiving oil and through holes 62 for dripping oil into the containing region 20 in the base member 2.
