Abstract
A lamp for attachment to a skip, scaffolding or similar structure is contained within a metal casing having mesh or transparent material at its top to allow the light out. The box is attached to the structure by two arms 1,2 forming a clamp which surrounds a part of the structure and is locked in this position eg with a padlock. Arm 2 pivots at 3 and in the clamped position encloses the lamp inside casing.
Description
SECURE WARNING LIGHT GUARD
The invention relates to a secure warning light guard.
Warning lights are used to warn people of dangerous obstacles, such as skips, building structures, scaffolding and other temporary hazards. The warning lights are attatched to structures by means of carry handles tied to the structure. Due to vandalism and damage the warning lights attatched to these structures are often stolen or damaged, leaving the strucure dangerously unlit.
According to this invention there is provided a steel box which holds the warning light, with mesh or a transparent material around the top of the sides of the box to allow the light to be visible.
The steel box is attatched to the relevant structure by means of two arms, one attatched to the side of the box and the second attatched to the lid. These two arms close together leaving a formed shape which can be locked onto the structure using a padlock. The action of the two arms closing and being locked together secures the light inside the box restricting any unauthorised access to it.
The shape and size of the formed shape allows it to fit onto the spigot on builders skips, but can not be removed when locked due to the flanges on the spigot which prevent the skip lifting device slipping off when lifting the skip.
The size and shape of the formed shape allows the light guard to fit on most skips.
When the two arms are unlocked and separated the box hangs from the fixed arm at a balance point allowing the operator to open the box and maintain the light without the need to remove the box from the strucure.
The lid can also be reclosed and locked into position on the structure.
Figure 1 shows the front view of the box and arms in the
closed position.

Claims (3)
1 A secure warning light guard comprising of two arms which lock a steel box to a structure and at the same time lock the warning light into the steel box.
2 A secure warning light guard as claimed in Claim 1 where the shape and size of the fixed arm and the balance of the box allow it to hang on the fixed arm while the lid is open and the light is worked on.
3 A secure warning light guard as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where the steel box and arms make the box a complete closed unit, lockable to a structure.
