Abstract

230,692. Egan, A. June 23, 1924. Saws.-A hack saw is provided with an adjustable frame, consisting of two parts A, B connected together, extension pieces L to increase the depth of the frame and angularly-adjustable sockets F carrying the usual pegs for the blade. The parts A, B are connected by a pin on each part engaging one of a number of holes in the other, a U-shaped screw clip C embracing the overlapping ends. The extension pieces L, each consisting of a folded plate flattened at the lower end, are fixed to the parts A, B by holts P passing through holes as shown. Sockets D for the straining sc;rew D<2> and the adjusting pin D' are channelled to receive the ends of' the parts A and B or the extensions L as required, and are secured thereto by bolts D<1>. The sockets F carrying the blade are fixed to the parts D<2> and D<3> by split pins G, Fig. 7, passing through coinciding holes therein. The screw D<2> is provided with a key-way engaging a key in the socket D to prevent its rotation. The saw is provided with a handle J connected by clamping bolts to links J' secured to the saw frame by similar bolts.
