Description

A DETACHABLE COPYHOLDER.
1.FIELD OF THE INVENTION.
The invention is in the field of methods to support printed and written materials/documents (called copyholders).
This invention may be attached to a portable computer, or to another similar/suitable surface.
It is suitable for circumstances, where there is no convenient position/location/situation for using any other copyholder.
2.DESCRIPTION OF THE PRIOR ART.
Copyholders already exist which can stand on flat surfaces;and there is one copyholder (the subject of a filed patent application from this inventor) designed to be attached to a portable computer or other similar/suitable surface. This design has, however, a different principle and fixing mechanism.
3.ABSTRACT.
In the preferred embodiment of the invention ,the framework comprises a horizontal, preferably tray shaped, member to which is fixed one or more clips, such that the clips (which themselves have a limited lateral range of movement, along the underside of the tray shaped member) can be clipped over, and slide along (to a convenient position), the lid containing screen of the randomly selected example of a portable personal computer.
Preferably, at the mid point of the length of the tray, a vertical member is fixed such that it can rotate about their junction.
Optionally, the documents/copy may be held in place by a suitable clip, fastened both to the top of the papers and the top of the vertical member.
4.BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS.
Fig 1 shows an isometric of the invention complete in the fully extended position ready to fit to, for example only, the lidcontaining-screen of a portable computer.
Fig 2a shows a cross section of the tray and the fixing of the clip(s).
Fig 2b shows a plan view of the tray and clip.
X indicates a suggested range of movement for the clip in the tray.
5. DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT.
The preferred embodiment of the invention is described with reference to one sole selected example for its use,i.e. on a lidcontaining- screen of a portable computer.
It consists of a preferably tray shaped member, whose length preferably equates to the width of the widest lid-containingscreen of a portable computer yet made.(Fig 1) Towards either end of this member (at the bottom of the inside of the tray) a suitable elongated hole is formed such that, for example, a bolt can not only be inserted, but has a limited lateral freedom of movement, to accommodate different screen widths of different computers, and the differing gaps between screen edge and lid edge.
The clip (s), with its/their predrilled hole(s) of similar diameter, is/are then passed over the bolt(s) (as it/they protrude/s through the undersurface of the tray) and one or more wing nut(s) (preferably] are attached and lightly fastened, so as to join the clip(s) to the tray shaped member.(Fig 2a) Preferably at the mid point of the length of the tray shaped member, a vertical member is attached such that it can rotate at the point of their junction (Fig 1).
The framework is positioned on the top of the lid containing screen of the computer by offering up the clip(s).
Optionally a suitable clip may be positioned at the top of this vertical member to fix a sheet or more of documentation/ copy.
Optional cushioning material may be introduced between the undersurface of the tray shaped member, and where this abuts the casing of the computer.Similar cushioning material may be introduced on the inside surface of the clip(s).

Claims (6)

6.CLAIMS.
1.A framework which can be folded up and carried.
2.A framework as claimed in claim 1 and which comprises a suitably shaped member which fits around one side of the computer screen, to act as shelf for documents/copy.
3.A framework as claimed in claims 1 and 2 and to which is fixed one or more clips which can fit over the lid containing screen of a portable or other computer.
4.A framework as claimed in claims 1,2 and 3 and whose clips are adjustable.
5.A framework as claimed in claims 1,2,3 and 4 and to which is attached a preferably rotating vertical member,to provide sufficient support for documents.
6.A framework as claimed in claims 1,2,3,4, and 5 and which is provided with optional cushioning material, which may be introduced between the undersurface of the tray shaped member, and where this abuts the casing of the computer;and/or similar cushioning material which may be introduced on the inside surface of the clip(s).
6.A framework as claimed in claims 1,2,3,4 and 5 and which is provide with a suitable clip which can be used to fasten documents/copy to the top of the vertical member.
7.A framework as claimed in claims 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 and which is provided with optional cushioning material, which may be introduced between the undersurface of the tray shaped member, and where this abuts the casing of the computer;and/or similar cushioning material which may be introduced on the inside surface of the clip(s).
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 6.CLAIMS.
1.A framework which comprises a suitably shaped member which fits around one side of the computer screen, to act, as shelf for documents/copy.
2.A framework as claimed in claim 1 and to which is fixed one or more clips which can fit over the lid containing screen of a portable or other computer.
3.A framework as claimed in claims 1 and 2 and whose clips are adjustable.
4.A framework as claimed in claims 1,2, and 3 and to which is attached a preferably rotating vertical member,to provide sufficient support for documents.
5.A framework as claimed in claims 1,2,3, and 4 and which is provide with a suitable clip which can be used to fasten documents/copy to the top of the vertical member.
