Abstract
The abutting side members of two rectangular frames (10, 11) of slightly different size, one inside the other, are bolted together at two locations (12) approximately 1/3 of the frame height up from floor level. These fixing points form pivots allowing the two frames to rotate in opposite directions to each other to form a 'V' shape which acts as a cradle. The angle of the 'V' shape and thus the overall height of the cradle is adjustable by varying the length of the restraining cord which links the base, bottom cross-members of the two frames together. A portfolio can then be placed in the cradle in order that its contents may be leafed through without the necessity of having to lay out the portfolio on a large flat surface, which would take up much more room. <IMAGE>
Description
Portfolio Cradle.
Desription:
Two rectangular timber frames of slightly different size, one inside the other. The abutting side members of the frame are bolted together at two locations approximately 1/3 of the frame height up from floor level. These fixing points form pivots from which points the two frames can rotate against each other to form a 'V' shape which acts as a cradle. The angle of the 'V' shape and thus the overall height of the cradle is adjustable by varying the length of the restraining cord which links the frames'bottom cross-members together. A portfolio can then be placed in the cradle in order that its contents may be leafed through with ease and convenience without the necessity of having to lay out the portfolio on a flat surface, which would take up much more room.
The cradle is light and easily transportable. Simple to use and adjust; folds away neatly. As opposed to a flat surface presentation it takes up considerably less space and it does not completely obstruct the view of anything which is directly behind it.
Applications: For use in Art and Design Schools, Colleges etc., Degree Shows, Exhibitions, and Business Presentations.
PORTFOLIO CRADLE.
This invention relates to a stand on which to display a portfolio.
When attempting to display the conents of a portfolio, especially a large one it is necessary to have a convenient large table, or use the floor. It would be more practicable to be able to use a fold up portable stand for displaying the portfolios contents.
The portfolio cradle is self supporting. The angle of the supporting arms of the cradle being adjusted by varying the length of the restraining cord. This also serves to adjust the overall height of the stand.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspective the cradle in the open position
ready to receive a portfolio.
Figure 2 shows the front elevation of the cradle in the
upright folded position.
Figure 3 illustrates the side elevtion of the cradle in the
open position with a portfolio in place.
Figure 4 shows the side elevation of the cradle in the upright
position.
Referring to the drawings the portfolio cradle comprises of frames 10 and 11 which forms the body of the cradle.
The cradle is shown on the ground in the upright folded position in Figures 2 and 4. In order to erect the stand from this position the frames are opened in the direction of the arrows in Figure 4. The frames then pivot about fixing points 12. The u pper arms of frames 10 and 11 then form a 'V' shaped cradle.
The angle of this cradle can be varied by adjusting the length of the restraining cord 13.
After use the portfolio is removed from the stand and the cradle returned to the foled position by pushing frames 10 and 11 together illustrated in Figure 4.
Claims (4)
1. A fold up portfolio cradle that is self supporting when opened comprising of two rectangular frames, one inside the other.
2. A portfolio cradle as claimed in claim 1, in which the frames are fixed together about pivoting points located on the side arms of the frames to form the arms of a cradle into which a portfolio can rest.
3. A portfolio cradle as claimed in claim 1 and claim 2, with an adjustable restraining cord located at the base of the frames. The adjusted length of this restraining cord varies the angle of the arms of the cradle effecting the overall cradle height.
4. A portfolio cradle substantially as described herein with reference to figures 1-4 of the accompanying drawings.
