Abstract

An attachment for a Visual Display Unit or other screen is disclosed which allows other devices to be attached to the VDU. The attachment comprises a frame which is composed of panels which can be trimmed to fit the screen. The frame surrounds the screen and can accommodate cables, controls, communications, illumination and other accessories.

Description

The Mounted Device Assembly The invention provides a utility that can be attached to the Host to extend functionality. The Host is typically a Visual Display Unit or screen device. In addition, it can enhance the immediate environment in support of communication, work and / or recreational activity with out necessarily detracting from the function of the Host.
Autonomous tools, devices of work and support mechanisms that exist, or as yet do not, aim to leverage human endeavour in VDU and / or desknop environments. The Invention can uniquely harmonises such tools and endeavour.
The Inventions' structure comprises a basic chassis and suitably arranged components which when assembled, as a Unit, can be permanently or temporarily attached to a VDU. It can host further attachments, storage and / or integrated devices whilst accommodating relevant electronics for their native or non-native functions.
A specific embodiment of the Invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Fig. 1 shows exploded elevations of horizontal and vertical component panels, illustrating subjective adjustment.
Fig. 2 outlines the mechanism by which the Body assembly attaches to the Host.
Fig. 3 describes how a basic device or component may be integrated into the basic Unit or module.
Fig. 4 shows a simple section of the assembly receiving a further peripheral attachment.
Fig. 5 shows a horizontal panel in cross-section to illustrate how communications and cabling can be routed to a plug / interface.
Fig. 6 shows a horizontal panel in cross-section, illustrating a multi-piece chassis arrangement with communications routed to an integrated control.
Note that scale and variations in body assembly indicate that the Units form and size are a function ofthe Host and applied requirement. The 'single piece' and 'multi-piece' body modules are simple variations of the Claims.

Claims (8)

1. It the Unit is an assembly, which is mountable onto a Host, incorporating instruments and devices so as to organise, orientate and extend their function(s).
2. It (the Unit as claimed in Claim 1) is adjustable to fit the Host physically.
3. It can embody further devices and tools (as claimed in Claim 1) which are effectively integral to its function as a Unit supporting the activity(s) of the environment.
4. It (as claimed in Claim 1) can support communications and power routing between the Host, embodied devices, other sources and / or devices (as claimed in Claims 2 and 3).
5. It can provide intermediate controls for integral or suitably routed peripheral devices (as claimed in Claim 4).
6. It (as claimed in Claim 1) can provide local electromagnetic illumination as a mechanism for enhancement or protection in consumption.
7. It (as claimed in Claim 1) is a receptacle, thus tools and devices may be attachable, detachable, stored or mounted in or on the Unit (as claimed in Claim 3).
8. The Unit (as claimed in Claim 1 and 2) typically surrounds the screen, though aesthetic form is not necessarily fixed by it (as claimed in Claim 3 and 7).
