Description
VEHICLE THEFT BARRIER
This invention relates to a vehicle theft barrier for vehicle control pedals.
Vehicle theft prevention devices are designed to deter the theft of vehicies from the rightful owners. Many kinds are available, some in the form of audible or visual alarms and others in the form of barriers, which restrict or prevent the vehicle from being driven away.
My invention relates to the later, in that it is a barrier or obstacle to theft, by preventing the effective use of vehicle control pedals.
Most vehicle theft prevention devices are large and cumbersome and to my knowiedge none in the same area as mine are commercially available at this present time.
According to the present invention there is provided a vehicle theft barrier comprising a shaped piece of metal1 bent at different lengths, through various angles, in various directions. There is means to fit, pin and reasonabiy secure the invention to one of the vehicle control pedals, means to prevent the vehicle control pedal to which it is fitted from being engaged and adjustment means to aliow for variation in pedal fitting height.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
Figure 1 shows in perspective, the pattern of the inventions metal body before it has been shaped.
Figure 2 shows the inventions metal body when shaped and angled at the correct lengths. it also shows the inventions fixing and securing means, the inventions loss of parts prevention means and the pedal height adjustment means.
Figure 3 shows how the invention shouid fit on to a vehicle pedal.
Figure 4 shows how the invention wiil look when fitted and secured to a vehicle control pedal.
Referring to the drawing of the invention, the main body 10 comprises a foot stopper 1, a floor stopper 2, a pedal slot 3 and adjustment holes 5. The foot stopper 1 and the floor stopper 2 take the form of the metal body 10 being bent at different lengths through various angles. The device is slotted on to a vehicle pedal bar 6 by means of a pedal slot 3. (For safety reasons it is recommended that the brake pedal shouid not be used.) The pedal slot 3 is a groove cut between the adjustment holes 5, which the vehicle pedal bar 6, fits into. The fixing pin 4 is then passed through the desired adjustment holes 5 (depending on the required height) and over the vehicle pedal bar 6. The invention is secured to the vehicle pedal bar 6, by means of a small standard padlock 7, which is slid through a hole 8 at the end of fixing pin 4, (once the fixing pin 4 has been passed through the adjustment holes 5.) The loss of the fixing pin 4, when the invention is not in use, is prevented by a loss prevention chain 9, which is fitted at each end to both the fixing pin 4 and one of the adjustment holes 5.
Removal of the invention is the opposite of fitting.
Claims (4)
1 A vehicle theft barrier comprising a shaped piece of metal, bent at different lengths, through various angles, in various directions. There is means to fit, pin and reasonably secure the invention to one of the vehicle control pedals, means to prevent the vehicle control pedal to which it is fitted from being engaged and adjustment means to allow for variation in pedal fitting height.
2 A vehicle theft barrier as claimed in claim 1, wherein means is provided to stop a persons foot from engaging the vehicle control pedal to which the device is fitted.
3 A vehicle theft barrier as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein means is provided to prevent the loss of any part of the invention when it is not in use.
4 A vehicle theft barrier as described herein with reference to figures 1-5 of the accompanying drawings.
