Abstract

A tool (1) for fitting taps is described and comprises a shaft (2) having a non ring headed nut engaging portion (3, 4) at one end for slidably engaging a nut to be rotated, and a socket (8) at the other end. The socket can receive an insertion element (9) of a lever attachment (7) for applying a turning force to the shaft (2). The insertion element is provided on one side of a ratchet mechanism (14), the other side being connected to a shaft (13) provided with a slidable hand length bar (18). The ratchet mechanism has a knurled wheel (16) located to be manipulable by a user's hand on the grip for selectively controlling the direction of drive of the applied turning force. <IMAGE>
